NUR 1110 - Nursing I 10 Credits
This is an introductory course in the Associate Degree Nursing Program which orients the student to the role of the nurse. Emphasis is placed on the nursing process as students begin to develop skills in helping clients of all ages to meet their basic needs. Concepts of study include clinical judgment, caring, communication, culture and spirituality, tissue integrity, professionalism, infection control, safety and quality, mobility, fluid and electrolytes, elimination, gas exchange, perfusion, thermoregulation, and pain and comfort. The student will apply the concepts to basic nursing skills in caring for clients with common health problems. Local hospitals and/or nursing homes are used for clinical experiences, as well as the simulation lab and skills lab.
Prerequisite: BIO 2511 , BIO 2513 , BIO 2521 and BIO 2523 Corequisite: NUR 1012 Prerequisite/Corequisite: EPY 2533 , BIO 2921 and BIO 2923
